This was an entertaining match with both sides displaying a high level of teamwork. At first, both defences enjoyed the upperhand and the score was low, probably a result of the different attacking tactics favoured by the teams ahead of the Knock-Out competition.

Aloysians led 12-10 midway through the match but in the second half, Depiro were outstanding in defence, keeping Aloysians' shooters Igor Stefanovic and Roberto Ragonesi under check and operating on fast counter attacks.

The last 10 minutes were tense as no team managed to pull clear. The equilibrium was broken in the 29th minute when a fine shot from Stefanovic in the lower left corner gave the last win of the season to the newly-crowned champions.

La Salle 22

After giving up their hopes of winning the championship, La Salle conceded another defeat, this time to Kavallieri who turned the tide in their favour in the second half.

La Salle had a major problem in goal as all three goalkeepers were unavailable to play. Clive Ferrante bravely answered the challenge to stand between the posts.

La Salle were the brighter team but Kavallieri fought back by exploiting the speed of their players on the counter. Half-time saw La Salle leading 12-9.

After the restart, La Salle were two goals to the good but Kavallieri pieced together an impressive 7-0 scoring run to gain the lead.

La Salle were shocked but with Dimitar Milev notching the goals, they stayed in contention only for Bernd Siegler to seal the points for Kavallieri late in the match.

Final standings: Aloysians 24, La Salle 18, Depiro 6, Kavallieri 6.

La Salle prevailed in this championship decider over Kavallieri to claim their second consecutive title.

The match lived up to expectations at first with the lead changing hands but with seven minutes left before the end of the first half, La Salle hit five consecutive goals to open up a comfortable advantage, 14-6.

In the second half, La Salle made sure of keeping Kavallieri's attacks at bay to maintain their firm hold on the match.

After 10 minutes, the champions extended their lead to 11 goals. Yvonne Barry, Bernadette Vassallo and goalkeeper Raffaela Zammit Tabona were the most impressive performers. The latter saved four penalties during the game.

Kavallieri tried to make a fight of it but on the day La Salle were superior and deservedly retained the title.

Final standings: La Salle 18, Kavallieri 12, Aloysians 6.
