Charles Meilak and Michael Galea are offended at the inclusion of the George Cross on the Maltese flag.
These two gentlemen have it all wrong: The Maltese flag has always had the George Cross emblazoned on it. The state of Malta came into being in 1964, the earlier versions were only wishful thinking but thanks to the persistent endeavours of the late lamented George Borg Olivier and his Nationalist Party the dream came true and for the first time the Maltese flag (which, incidentally, had the George Cross placed proudly in the corner of the white half) was hoisted as little Malta had attained nationhood for the first time.
