Ambulance drivers yesterday unanimously approved the agreement reached by the Union Haddiema Maghqudin with the government on their behalf.

The agreement was reached a week ago following a dispute which had dragged on for 11 weeks.

The two sides agreed to include the 50 ambulance drivers as an essential service in the new labour law, meaning that any future industrial dispute concerning ambulance drivers would be referred to an arbitration structure.

Through this agreement, ambulance drivers will also be given the opportunity for further training which should provide them with new openings in their career.

They will also start benefiting from on-call allowances.
