As a Maltese-Canadian who is an archaeologist and who has had the privilege of excavating my own cultural heritage in Malta it was wonderful to read the story about the Punic and Phoenician artefacts which were donated to Heritage Malta.

As a Maltese-Canadian who is an archaeologist and who has had the privilege of excavating my own cultural heritage in Malta it was wonderful to read the story about the Punic and Phoenician artefacts which were donated to Heritage Malta. Congratulations to Joseph Sammut for recognising the importance and responsibilities that citizens have to protecting the past.

I can only hope that this will encourage other Maltese who have such items in their possession to do the same. It is essential that the Maltese and the Maltese government take an active role in preserving its cultural resources both prehistoric and historic for future generations. Such resources act as an important reminder of our place in history.
