Animals in a "farm" in the north of Malta were found to be in a pitiful state of abandonment.

Noah's Ark, an animal welfare organisation, intervened and reported the matter to the authorities, who are investigating.

Three horses, a handful of sheep, five dogs, fowl and ducks were being kept in filthy surroundings and fed at random, if at all, the organisation said.

Noah's Ark volunteers are working daily to feed the animals as well as clean up and tidy the premises but some of the animals are in urgent need of veterinary care.

Should anyone like to help Noah's Ark can be contacted on 7973 0900.
