Animal Welfare officials confiscate 120 animals found in a poor state

The animals included cats, chickens and rabbits.

Some 120 animals that were being kept in poor condition in a private residence in Paola were confiscated by officials of the Animal Welfare Department on Wednesday.

The officials inspected the premises at Triq il-Baċir after a phone tip-off and found the animals in a yard and a small room which were unsuitable for them.

The animals were checked by a vet and immediately removed from the premises. An investigation is underway.

The animals included rabbits, chickens, gerbils and some 60 birds.

The parliamentary secretary for animal welfare, Alicia Bugeja Said thanked the officials involved in the operation.
