Obituaries

CASSAR. On August 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARRIE, née Barbara, of Paola, aged 86, went to meet the Risen Lord, passing peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by her family. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved daughters Patricia and her husband Joe Cutajar, Sandra and her husband Silvio Cortis, her cherished granddaughters, Maria and her husband Dr Timothy Bartolo, Sarah and her partner Kenneth Abela, her great-grandson Matthew, and Ray, her sisters Lilian, Jamie and her husband Joe, Tessie and her husband Edward, her brothers the late Hector and wife Tessie, Georgia wife of her late brother Joe, Paul and his wife Fabiana, Twanny and his wife Mary, and her brother and sisters-in-law Lina, the late Maybel and her husband France, Tessie wife of the late Edwin, Oliver husband of the late Anna, her nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, August 5, at 8am, for St Anthony of Padua church, Għajn Dwieli, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.45am followed by interment in the family grave at Gudja cemetery. May the Lord grant her eternal peace.

DAY. On July 21, GRAZIELLA, née Mamo, passed away peacefully at her residence. She will be forever remembered by her sister Daniela, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday, August 6, for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass to celebrate her life will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GRECH.  On July 31, at Capua St James Hospital, Sliema, SILVANA, aka Thelma, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church.  She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Ivor and Peter, her nephew and nieces Josephine, Derek and his wife Linda and their children, Daniela and her husband Marcus Muscat-Baron and their daughters, in-laws, besides other relatives and friends. Mass presænte cadavere will be said on Tuesday, August 5, at 9.15am, at Ta’ Xbiex parish church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Salesians of Don Bosco, Sliema, will be greatly appreciated. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

LASPINA. On July 31, MARLENE, aged 73, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She will forever be remembered by her daughter Sarah, her partner Jean and Kayden, her brothers Anthony Guillaumier, widower of Yvette Guillaumier, John Guillaumier, and Renate, widow of Paul Guillaumier, nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated tomorrow, Monday, August 4, at 1.30pm, at the Kunċizzjoni church, Ħamrun. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Requiem Mass

Mass for the repose of JEAN PAUL ATTARD, on the first anniversary of his passing, shall be held on Sunday, August 10, at 10.30am, at the parish centre, Attard. Family and friends are invited to attend. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

In Memoriam

AQUILINA – ELISA, née Palermo Navarra. In cherished memory of a loving and beloved mother and grandmother, on the 33rd anniversary of her passing away. Fondly and lovingly remembered and ever sadly missed by her son Joseph, her daughter Myriam, and her grandchildren, family and friends. BARTOLO PARNIS – PATRICIA. Treasured and unfading memories of a dear mother and grandmother on the second anniversary of her demise. Sadly missed by her children Joanna and Paul, George and Silvana, Anthony and Greta, and grandchildren. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

BONELLO GHIO – ALDO. In loving memory, on the 20th anniversary of his meeting with the Lord. Fondly remembered by his wife Doris, children and grandchildren. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CILIA – ĊETTINA, née Buttigieg, 4.8.2001. Dearest Tina, I still cannot get used to the idea that you are gone. You are still so much alive for me, as sisters carry each other in their hearts forever. We walked through life together. You were always there for me no matter what, sharing everything. I miss you so much, but I thank God for having given me such a wonderful sister even though for a short time. I love you. Your twin sister Antoinette.

DEBONO – DAVID. In loving memory of a dear brother on the 14th anniversary of his demise. He remains always in our thoughts and prayers. Never forgotten by his sisters Marguerite, Pauline, Lucienne and their families. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRIMA – Major FRANCIS XAVIER GRIMA. In loving memory of our dear father on the 26th anniversary of his passing away to meet the Risen Lord. Deeply missed by his children, their respective spouses, grandchildren  and great-grandchildren. A prayer is solicited. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MALLIA – Chev. Dr PAUL MALLIA, LL.D. In memory of a loving father and grandfather on the 20th anniversary of his demise. Fondly remembered and sadly missed. Michael, Jo Anna, and Tonio, in-laws and grandchildren. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

MARTIN. In loving memory of TONY, a dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, today the 32nd anniversary of his passing to eternal life. Always in our hearts and remembered in our prayers. His family.

VASSALLO. In loving memory of LOUISE, a dear and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, on the second anniversary of her entry into eternal life. Lord, grant her eternal rest. Forever in our thoughts and prayers. Anthony, Henriette and John, Paula, Albina and Karina.

In loving memory of ALFRED CASSAR Thursday, August 7 being the eighth anniversary of his meeting with the Lord. Forever loved, cherished and deeply missed by his wife Mary, his children Mario, Massimo and Nadia and their respective spouses, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Masses for the repose of his soul will be celebrated on Thursday, August 7 at 9am at the collegiate parish church of St Paul Shipwrecked, at 8.30am and 6.15pm at the Basilica of St Dominic, Valletta, and at St Paul Shipwreck church in Marsalforn at 7pm.
