Obituaries

BROCKDORFF. On February 10, LINA, aged 95, a loving and caring mother, grandmother, novelist, playwright, teacher, and tireless champion of the Maltese language, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad and irreparable loss her beloved children, Noellie, David and his wife Audrey, Adrianne, widow of Tonio Mercieca, Daniel and his wife Vincienne, and grandchildren Chris, Jonathan and his wife Vicky, James, Andrew, Michael, Lara, and Nicole, her brothers Anthony and Guy Mahoney, her sisters Josephine Farrugia and Patricia Mahoney, sister-in-law Beatrice, widow of her brother John Mahoney, other relatives, friends, ex-students and readers. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Saturday, February 14, at Tal-Ibraġ parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 10am. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, or the Karl Vella Foundation, 46, Burmarrad Road, St Paul’s Bay, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CALLUS. On February 11, at St Vincent de Paul Intermediate Care Unit, Chev. Mro CARMELO CALLUS of Siġġiewi, aged 98, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Costanza; his children Catherine and John; Carmen and Mario; Pauline and Barry; Nicholas; and Sergio and Roberta; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Saveria Cini; other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow, Saturday, February 14, at 2.15pm, for St Nicholas parish church, Siġġiewi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment at Siġġiewi cemetery. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, and the Puttinu Cares Foundation will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank the staff of Porziuncola Home and St Vincent de Paul Intermediate Care Unit for their care and dedication.
