Obituaries
BRINKWORTH. On January 19, VIOLET, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Sadly missed by her children Jonathan, Fiona, Sarah Jane and Andrew, their spouses/partners, her grandchildren Angela, Alexandra, Agnes and Dave, her sisters, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be held today at 3.30pm at the Mosta Rotunda. No flowers by request. Donations to Puttinu Cares are kindly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
DARMANIN. On January 15, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY, aged 79, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his immediate family. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Bertha, née Laferla, his son David and his wife Kirsten, his treasured granddaughters Emma and Philippa, his sisters Marina, Cora and her husband Michael Rossi, their children, other relatives and friends. Due to inclement weather conditions and for safety reasons, the funeral arrangements have been rescheduled. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, January 23, at 1.15pm, for St Gregory the Great parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations, if wished, to Step Up for Parkinson’s, Naxxar, will be greatly appreciated. Merciful Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank his dedicated carer Gilbert who supported him in recent months.
WISMAYER. On January 19, MATTHEW, founder of Pet Nutrition House Ltd and Schools for Africa (Malta) Foundation, aged 53, passed away peacefully fortified by the rites of Holy Church, surrounded by his loving family. He will be forever loved and cherished by his wife Annabelle, his children Sean and his wife Sophie and Erika and her partner Samuel, his sister Rachel and her husband Stephen, his parents-in-law Vincent and Antoinette, his sister-in-law Alison and her husband Richard, his nephew Robert and his nieces Hannah and Amy. He also leaves to mourn his loss his family, his dedicated staff and volunteers and numerous friends all over the world. The funeral cortège will leave Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Thursday, January 22, and proceed to St Julian’s parish church, where Mass celebrating Matthew’s life will be held at 9am. This will be followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. To honour Matthew’s legacy, the family would greatly appreciate that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Schools for Africa (Malta) Foundation. This charity, founded by Matthew, aims to improve the lives of less fortunate children. Contributions will enable the foundation to commence the initial phase of work on its first project in Ghana, a goal the foundation came very close to achieving during his lifetime. Requiem Mass
Tomorrow, Thursday, January 22, being the trigesima die of the passing away of EDWARD FIRMAN, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 7pm, at St Patrick’s church, Sliema. Family and friends are welcome. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CARUANA – HENRY. Treasured memories of a very dear husband, father and grandfather who went to meet the Risen Lord seven years ago today. Fondly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Laura, his sons Claude and wife Nisha, Leon and his adorable grandchildren. A Mass will be celebrated today, Wednesday, at 6.30pm at Tal-Ibraġ church.
CARUANA. In loving memory of MARGUERITE, today the ninth anniversary of her death. Fondly remembered by her children, in-laws and grandchildren. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord.
DEMAJO – THOMAS. In memory of a dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on the 12th anniversary of his death. Sadly missed by his daughter Apollonia and his sons-in-law, Leonard and Philip, his grandchildren, Diana, Ruth and Harriet, and great-grandchildren. May he rest in peace.
