Obituaries

FORTE. On July 22, CARLO, aged 81, passed away suddenly at his residence in Sliema. He will always be loved and remembered by his loving wife Marlene, née Navarro, his siblings Albert, widower of Antoinette, Fr Joseph SDB, Carmen, Victor and his wife Mary, his in-laws Gladys and her husband Walter Izzo, Marcelle and her husband Manuel Chetcuti and Valerie, widow of Joe Seychell, his nephews and nieces Andrew, John, James, Christine, John, Suzanne, Marco and their families, other relatives and friends, especially the Salesian Community of Don Bosco. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, July 28 for the Don Bosco Salesian Oratory, Sliema, where Mass to celebrate his life will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Salesians of Don Bosco are greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

POOLE. ANTHONY CECIL, OBE, of Tewkesbury, residing in Madliena, peacefully passed away at Mater Dei Hospital on July 23, aged 93, comforted by the rites of the Holy Catholic Church. A beloved husband of Josephine, née Pandolfino, much-loved father of Steve, Nick and his partner Peggy Desaunay, Helen and her husband Mike Fenwick, Hayley and her husband Emad Benosman, Heidi and her husband Dominic Micallef, and Lisa and her husband Tim Readman, a devoted grandfather to Robert, Louis, Daniel, Michael, Natasha, Laura, Samuel, Bethany, Isaac, Benjamin and Aimee, and a cherished great-grandfather. He will also be deeply missed by his nephews, nieces, extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. The funeral cortège will leave Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, July 28 at 1.30pm for Tal-Ibraġġ parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2pm, followed by cremation overseas. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in Anthony’s memory to Hospice Malta or Caritas Malta would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

VELLA. PHYLLIS, née Grech, aged 95, passed away peacefully on July 20 at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She will be forever loved and cherished by her beloved husband Joseph, her daughter Sandra and her husband Pasquale, her son Pierre and his wife Roberta, her grandchildren Lara, Rachel, Daniel and Abigail, her great-grandchildren, her sister Mary, her brother William, her nephews and nieces, especially Caroline, her in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège will leave Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, July 28, at 8.15am. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9am at St Mary’s parish church, Attard, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Ivy Ward at Porziuncola Home and SAU2 ward at Mater Dei Hospital for their dedicated care and kindness. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MICALLEF ST JOHN – MATTHEW. Today would have been your birthday. We miss you so much and we’re spending today remembering all the wonderful times we shared.

NAUDI. Loving and treasured memories of ROBERT, a dear and beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, today the 42nd anniversary of his demise. Fondly remembered by his son Anton and his wife Marlene, his in-laws and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Forever in our thoughts and daily prayers. Today’s 10.30am Mass at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of his soul. May the Lord grant him eternal peace and rest.

PACE ASCIAK – NORMAN. Unfading memories of a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who went to meet the Risen Lord eight years ago today. Deeply missed by his wife, children and grandchildren. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

RANDON. Cherished and unfading memories of our dear MARIO on the ninth anniversary of his passing away. Greatly missed by his wife Christine, his children Elisabeth, Mark and Ann Marie, their spouses and his adored grandchildren. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VELLA. In loving memory of ELDA née Manara, today on the 21st anniversary of her demise. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by her husband Edward, her daughters Katrine, Chantal, Danielle and Nicole and their families. Please remember her in your prayers.

STEPHEN TARPEY former PS1417 (6.7.1967-31.7.2014). We little knew that morning; God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you; the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, although we cannot see you, we know that you are always by our side. Our family chain has broken, and nothing seems to be the same. But when God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. Never forgotten by his wife Maureen and his son James, his sisters Elaine and Louise and her husband Stirling, his mother-in-law Josephine, his sisters-in-law Tania and her husband Stephen and Nikita and her fiancé Christopher, his niece Daniela and her husband Eric, relatives and friends.
