Obituaries

BORG. With deep sorrow we announce the death of ANNA, of San Ġwann, at the age of 73. She leaves to mourn her loss to her husband Alfred, her children Lara and her husband Kevin, Daniel, her grandson Kylian, her brothers and sister and their families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital, tomorrow at 8am, for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where Mass will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares will be appreciated. The family would prefer that those attending the funeral do not wear black. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CALLEJA. On June 2, Tonio, aged 69, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He will be remembered by Josette, his children Fabien, Ghislaine and Liam, his sister Sherieka and her husband Jonathan, his nephew Francesco, his niece Valentina and other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow, Friday June 5, at 7.30am, for Balzan parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am, followed by interment at Balzan cemetery. May he rest in peace. The family would like to thank all the staff at St Vincent de Paul Residence Palliative Care Unit for their dedicated service and support over the past months.

ALAMANGO – PAULINE, née Tabone Adami. Treasured and loving memories of a much loved and dear mother and grandmother on the first anniversary of her meeting with the Lord. Always in our hearts and prayers. Joanne, Karl, Andrew, David, Polina, Kevin, Rose, Steve and grandchildren Claire, Simon, Sophie, Michael and Gigi. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

ANASTASI – JOE. In loving memory of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, today being the 37th anniversary of his death. Forever in our thoughts and prayers. Merciful Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BRIFFA – Major ALFRED BRIFFA, MBE, ED, O st J (1916-2005). In ever loving memory of a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather on the 21st anniversary of his death. So sadly missed. Edward, Joanna and their families. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PACE – ANTHONY (ex-foreman, Water Works Department), today the 67th anniversary of his death in the tragedy of the Ta’ Qali reservoir. Unfaded memories. His son Mario and his family.

PORTELLI – VANESSA. On the first anniversary of her passing away. Greatly missed by her mother-in-law Marguerite, and family. May she rest in peace.

PORTELLI. In loving memory of VANESSA, née Sullivan, on the first anniversary of her passing on June 4, 2025. Deeply missed by her husband Simon, her children Andrea and Timmy, her parents Edith and John, her mother-in-law Marguerite, her siblings Mandi and Matthew and their respective spouses, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and countless friends. Mass for the repose of her soul will be celebrated today, Thursday, June 4, at 6.30pm at The Crypt, Sanctuary of Divine Mercy, Naxxar. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.
