Obituaries

BALZAN. On March 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, EDWARD, known to his family and friends as Eddie, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He will be forever loved and missed by his beloved wife May, née Scicluna, his daughter Fiona and her husband Bryan Navarro, his son Michael and his wife Mandy, née Calascione, his grandchildren Jan, Megan and Faye, his brother Paul and his wife Valerie, his sister Marie Louise and her husband Vincent, his brothers-in-law Fr John Scicluna SJ, Joe and his wife Jenny, his sister-in-law Marlene, widow of Lino, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, March 20, for Tal-Ibraġ parish church where Mass to celebrate his life will be said at 10am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Haematology Department at SAMOC and their Outreach Team, and Hospice Malta, St Venera, for all the support and care shown during this challenging time.

BEZZINA. On March 13, after a short illness, MARIA HELENA (Marlene), went to meet the Risen Lord. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Johanna Bezzina Fisher and Marie Louise Spiteri Staines; her nieces Sarah and husband Miguel Martins Araujo and Claire and husband Andres Baron Bello and their children Solana, Alejandro and Felipe. The funeral Mass præsente cadavere will take place on Friday, March 20, at 9.30am, at Balluta parish church, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, or Aid to the Church in Need (ACN Malta), Attard, would be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

TESTAFERRATA MORONI VIANI. On March 14, MONIKA, widow of Baron Salvino Testaferrata Moroni Viani, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Christopher and Martin and their respective wives Daniela and Stephanie, her grandchildren Petra and her husband Steve Portera, Stephen and his wife Naomi, Nicholas, Martina and Sophia, her great-grandchildren Amelie Eva and Giorgia Beatrice, her brother Dr Jur. Manfred Ammermann and his wife Monika, her sister Ute, widow of Rainer Knoche and her sister-in-law Jane Testaferrata Moroni Viani and their respective families, other relatives and friends, amongst whom Kenneth, Marissa and Naima. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, for Christ the King Basilica, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am, followed by private interment. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Requiescat in pace.

MEILAK – Dr JOSEPH MEILAK, 18.3.1980. Time will never dim the precious and beautiful memories of our beloved Joe, a wonderful and most loving husband, father and grandfather. Forever loved and revered. Cettina, Stefan, Lucienne, Erika and grandchildren.

PULIS. In loving memory of JOSEPH, a beloved father and grandfather, today, the 26th anniversary of his meeting with the Lord. Forever in the hearts and prayers of his daughters Yvonne and Josette, his grandchildren Michael, Mark and Daniela and their families. Dear Lord, grant him eternal life.

In loving memory of ALEX SCHEMBRI on the first anniversary of his passing on to eternal life. Dearly loved and missed by his wife Margaret, his children; Celia and her husband Mark, Michael and his wife Glorianne, together with his grandchildren Marcus and Matias. Never forgotten and always in our prayers. Masses for the repose of his soul will be said today, Wednesday, March 18th at 7.30 and 9am at St Patrick’s church, Sliema. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
