Obituary
FARRUGIA. On May 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, DOROTHY, née Mizzi, widow of Anthony, of St Julians, residing at Birkirkara, aged 59, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved daughter Charmaine and her only grandson Antonio, her brother Laurence, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Francis of Assisi church, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.
Lord, grant her eternal rest.
WONFOR - MADELEINE, née Lowell, passed away peacefully on June 1. Madeleine is lovingly remembered by her brothers John and his wife Marie Therese, Robert and his wife Marta, her sister Rita and her husband Ernest. She is always in the hearts of all their children and grandchildren.
May she rest in peace.
Requiem Masses
Today being the first anniversary of the death of FERDINAND ANTHONY DEMICOLI, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated today at 6.30 p.m. by His Grace, Archbishop Paul Cremona, at St Paul Shipwrecked parish church, Valletta. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated. Never forgotten by his parents Consiglia and Tony, his brother Randolph and sister Sylvana Marie.

Fair of Maltese books
The National Book Council will be holding a fair of Maltese books at the Robert Sammut Hall (near Argotti Gardens) between June 12 and 14.
The publishers taking part are Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti, FrannyJo Publications, Horizons, Klabb Kotba Maltin, Kotba Argo, Midsea Books, Preca Publications, Sensiela Kotba Soċjalisti and Uptrend Publishing.
The fair will be open free of charge on Thursday and Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mepa caseload
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority decided 497 applications and received 564 new ones in May. The net pending caseload at the end of that month was 4,926.
A total of 60 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 36 enforcement cases closed and 26 sanctioned. Another 10 enforcement cases were resolved when owners decided to remove the illegal development.
Fourth book
Francis Cachia has just launched a book called At Balluta Bay, Malta: The Town Of Tree And Sea.
The publication is inspired by enjoyment, art and culture in all their dimensions.
Dr Cachia has written three other books over the last 10 years, namely Global Diplomacy Reflected In Malta, Historical Drama In Malta and Vision And Verification.
Consultation on radiation exposure
The Radiation Protection Board will hold consultations on a set of prescribed rules attached to the Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (Legal Notice 472 of 2004).
The rules, prepared in consultation with the Superintendent of Public Health, will be legally binding.
Among other aspects, the prescribed rules include various interpretations of individual regulations of the legal notice, including conditions justifying medical exposure, optimisation and written instructions and information.
They cover the duties of employers, referrers, practitioners and operators while offering guidance to employers on training, qualifications and experience required.

Scholarship schemes
Gozitans who wish to learn more about government scholarships for full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies here or abroad can attend an information session at the Exhibition Hall, Ministry for Gozo, Victoria on Friday at 6 p.m.

Magazine proceeds
The Helping Hands Foundation (HHF) is promoting the 16th edition of the Family Magazine with proceeds going to the Mission Fund Ġesù Fil-Proxxmu.
A total of €9,500 (Lm4,078.35) have already been raised and passed on to Fr Ġorġ Grima of the organisation.
The foundation has provided its marketing team with sun protection as the magazine is sold on the street.
Fund-raising art exhibition
The Marsascala parish will hold a fund-raising art and sculpture exhibition at the Marsascala parish hall from June 20 to 29.
More than 60 artists will be displaying their works. The works exhibited in Unita 08, the name of the exhibition, will be on sale.

Customs Shed
The Customs Department said that the shed known as the "Stripping Shed", which was situated at the Marsa industrial estate has, as from Monday, been transferred to the Customs Complex at Ħal Far.
