Obituary
AGIUS. On September 2, MARY nee RIZZO, widow of Hugo, aged 82, passed peacefully away at Zammit Clapp Hospital, comforted by the rights of Holy Church after an illness borne with great fortitude. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Jean and Frank (jon lukas), their respective wives Amanda and Mary, her grandchildren Maria, Lily, Mark, Ashley and Rachel, and her brothers Joe and John, and her sisters Bice, Ena, and their respective spouses, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Balluta parish church on Saturday, September 6, at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.
VELLA. On September 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELA, of Mġarr, aged 94, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Paula, widow of Saviour, Maria and her husband Nazzareno, Sr Rita Vella of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, John and his wife Magdalene, Connie and her husband Chris, Lily and her husband Aldo, Joe and his wife, Rita, Matilda and her husband Saviour, her 26 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren, her brother Frank and their families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 4 p.m. for St Mary parish church, Mġarr, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4.30 p.m. followed by interment at Mġarr cemetery in the family grave. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Traditional Piligrimage
The traditional pilgrimage of cyclists and motorcyclists on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Graces in Żabbar will be held on September 14.
Cyclists leave College Street, Rabat at 9.45 a.m. and go through Attard, Lija, Balzan, Birkirkara, Sta Venera, Ħamrun, Qormi, Marsa, Paola, Tarxien, Fgura and Żabbar.
Motorcyclists will leave Mosta at 9.45 a.m. and drive through Birkirkara, St Julians, Sliema, Gżira, Msida, Floriana, Valletta, Floriana, Ħamrun, Marsa, Paola, Senglea, Cospicua, Fgura and Żabbar.
The two will meet in Fgura and proceed to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces in Żabbar at around noon.
The pilgrimage was born 57 years ago when Pope Pius XII declared Our Lady of Graces as patron of cyclists.
Salesian reunion
The Salesians of Don Bosco in Sliema will be holding a reunion of past pupils and friends to commemorate the Salesian Oratory's centenary on September 13.
The evening will consist of the celebration of Mass at 7 p.m. in the oratory's grounds followed by entertainment by the oratory's Youth Centre. All past pupils and friends are encouraged to attend.
First aid courses
St John Ambulance will be holding first aid courses in Maltese from September 15 at 6.30 p.m. twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Another course will start on September 16 at 9.30 a.m. twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
A course in English will also be held on September 16 but at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Each course will consist of nine two-hour lectures and cost €35.

Wood carving course
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce will holding a beginners course in wood carving.
The course will be consist of 10 sessions of two hours each on Saturday mornings and will run between October and December.
The cost is €21 and tools are to be provided by the students while the wood can either be supplied by the student or by the society at a cost.

Seminar on needs of ICT sector
The Employment and Training Corporation will be holding a seminar with the participation of ICT companies with a view to an improved understanding of the needs and requirements of the ICT sector.
The seminar will be held on September 12 at Le Meridien Hotel and Spa in St Julians between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Prayer meeting
The international movement of prayer Blessed Pope John XXIII will be holding an evening of prayer for peace and new evangelisation of the world at Sarria church, Floriana on September 17 between 6 and 7 p.m.
Solemn adoration
There will be solemn adoration of the Blessed Eucharist followed by benediction and Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of St Paul Shipwrecked, St Paul's Bay today and every Thursday at 5.30 p.m.
Żurrieq streets closed
Triq il-Kbira and Triq ir-Repubblika, Żurrieq will be closed to traffic today between 7 p.m. and midnight.
