Vehicle valuation system

The Malta Transport Authority said yesterday that used imported vehicles will not be registered between today and January 13 because of an updating exercise of its vehicle valuation system. The ADT's Licensing and Testing Directorate said that only new vehicles will be registered during this period.

The vehicle valuation system for all used vehicles, which will be accessible online through the vehicle registration portal, is being updated and during this period testing will be carried out by the Finance Ministry. The registration of used imported vehicles will resume from January 14.

The ADT said that the final registration value of a vehicle, on which registration tax is due, is determined on the day of registration of that particular vehicle.
