Obituary

AZZOPARDI. On January 29, CARMEN of Sliema, aged 66, passed away peacefully at home. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Professor Joe and his wife Marilise, her sisters Monica, Maryann and her husband Charles, her nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, relatives and friends. The funeral was held yesterday.

BORG-CARDONA - NICHOLAS aged 26, lost his battle with leukaemia on January 25. He departed peacefully on his next journey comforted by the rites of Holy Church, surrounded by his family and friends at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. He will be so sadly missed by his parents Tanya and Edward, David Newman, Maggie Gingell-Littlejohn, Leanne and Daniel, his grandparents Sylvia and Eggie Grech, Melanie and Andrew Calleja, David, Bettina and Maxine, Terri-Ann, Karen and Ben, Marc and Elaine, Debbie and Mark, Astrid Beesley, Mark and Leanne in Australia, Victoria and Charles Houlton, Fleur and Edward, Albert Borg-Cardona, Adriana and Albert, Joanne and Hubert Pace DeCesare, Faye, Tamsin and Sue, Simone and Len Briffa and Alex and other relatives, his colleagues and numerous friends from Malta and all over the world who have all been so loving and supportive - R.I.P. His body was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium on Thursday, January 29, at 3 p.m. A celebration of Nick's life will be held at St Gregory parish church, Sliema, tomorrow at 2 p.m. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares, will be greatly appreciated.

BRINCAT. On February 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, VIOLET née Farrugia, aged 79, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Saviour, her son Joe and his wife Rose, her daughters Marlene and her husband John Harrison, Doris and her husband Dennis Francalanza and Anna and her husband Mario Aquilina, her grandchildren Davina, Steve, Isla, Mark, Karl, Sean, Rachel and Sarah, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Attard parish church at 2 p.m. today, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. Lord, grand her eternal rest.

GAUCI. On February 2, at St Vincent de Paule residence, JOSEPH (ex-IAL), went to meet the risen Lord at the age of 79. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Marie née Crocetta, his children Noel and Anna Cassar, his grandchildren Matthew, Steven, Jean Paul, Sandy, Sarah and Deborah, his great-grandchildren Kaya and Laya, his sisters Mary widow of Richard Bamber, Tessie wife of Oliver Tabone and Rita widow of Orenzio Galea, his brothers Alfred and his wife Monique and Henry and his wife Doreen, and the sons of his late brother Salvino, Lino, Raymond and Paul, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends - R.I.P. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paule residence today at 2 p.m. for Msida parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Providenza or St Joseph Home Ħamrun, will be appreciated .

STIVALA. On February 1, ROBERT, aged 87, passed away peacefully at home, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Elsa née Mamo, his children Francesca Schussler, Dennis and his wife Francesca, Madeleine Doepfmer and John and his wife Alison, his grandchildren Max, Lucia, Rebecca, Michael, Amy and Andrea, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May God grant him eternal rest.

VELLA - Saviour. On February 2, at Karen Grech Hospital, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Paulette, his children Joe, John and Sandra wife of Joseph Cassar, his grandchildren Lisa Marie, Yvette and her husband Paul, Andrea and her husband Wilfred, John Luke, Rebecca and Bernard Paul, his brother and sisters-in-law and friends. His funeral leaves Karen Grech Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Mary's parish church, Birkirkara (old church), where Mass presente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

A bazaar in aid of Stella Maris parish centre is being held today and tomorrow. Open all day from 9.30 a.m. at 49, Cathedral Street, Sliema.

Indian condolence book

The Consulate of India will open a condolence book to pay homage to former President Ramaswamy Venkataraman between tomorrow and Friday at Cannon Road, Santa Venera. The eighth President died last Tuesday following multiple organ failure.

St Paul's Bay road closure

St Paul's Street in St Paul's Bay, from Mecca Stores to the Xemxija roundabout, will be closed to traffic on Thursday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Public transport routes 45, 450, 145, 48, 645 and 652 will be diverted through the St Paul's Bay bypass.

Mass for the family

The Cana Movement will hold Mass and adoration for the family on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the MUSEUM Chapel in Blata l-Bajda.
