Obituary

DE MARTINO. On February 19, at St Vincent de Paul residence, SALVATORE of Senglea, residing at Mosta, widower of Ġuża, aged 91, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Maria, Fr Raphael De Martino, Giovanni and his wife Maria, Josephine and her husband Tony Chetcuti, Rose and her husband Lino Cassar, Carmelo and his wife Joyce, Joe and his wife Emilia and Salvu and his wife Jane, his grandchildren Albert, Giovanni and his wife Sylvana, Maria and her husband Patrick Bezzina, Manuel, Louis and his wife Roberta, Christine, Maria, Mark, John, Salvatore, Alan, Massimiliana, Maria, Rita, Graziella, Stefano and Thomas, his great-grandchildren Francesca Pia and Laura Maria, his sister Rose Fenech, his brother Giovanni and his wife Maria, his sisters-in-law Aura Fenech, residing in Australia, and Maria Fenech. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 2.15 p.m. for Mosta parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Mosta cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SCHEMBRI. On February 19, Fr HENRY, Augustinian friar, aged 74, passed away peacefully at St Rita's Priory in St Julians, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss the brothers of the Augustinian Province, his sisters Mary, Frances, Lina and Salvina, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves the Millennium chapel in Paceville at 9.15 a.m. for the Our Lady of Good Counsel church in Paceville where a concelebrated Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment in the grave of the Augustinian Province at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Augustinian missions would be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VELLA. On February 18, JOHN of St Paul's Bay (Director, Ballut Blocks Ltd), aged 80, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children David, Godwin and Lorraine, his beloved granddaughter Francesca, his brothers Vincent and Nazzareno, his sister Rita, their families, in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.15 p.m. for St Mary's parish church, Mġarr, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment at St Paul's Bay cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRECH - JANE, widow of Samuel. Remembering mother with love and gratitude, today the 14th anniversary of her passing away. Simone, Stephanie, Marian, James, in-laws and grandchildren.

Carnival at Baystreet

Baystreet shopping complex will come alive with the carnival spirit this weekend as the country celebrates this annual tradition.

Festivities will start on Friday evening at 6.30 p.m. at the Artisans Centre with the Charles Tahir Magic Carnival Show, the Mystic Dancers and the Stingers. On Saturday there will be a Children's Costume Competition in the Artisan market being held at 3.30 p.m. while the Wild Strength Dancers and the Alana Carnival Dancers will perform later on in the afternoon.

Sunday afternoon is packed with performances for all the family as the Dance College Studio, the CCK Dancers and the Pro-Touch Dancers will take to the stage culminating in a colourful performance from Charlie tal-Banda and Carlo Olivari Carnival Dance Company.

It will draw to a close on Monday afternoon when at 1.30 p.m. the dance company from the triumphal float 'A' will perform.
