Obituary
BALFOUR. On January 27, PETER, died peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, just five months from his 90th birthday. Darling husband of Gillian and much admired father, grandfather and great-grandfather, to the growing Balfour clan, he lived life to the full and despite cancer this year he was recently swimming in the sea he loved so dearly. The funeral will leave Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 4.30 p.m. for the Naxxar Cemetery where a service will be held at 5 p.m. followed by interment. No flowers please but donations to Cancer Research will be welcomed. We will celebrate Peter's life in the traditional Scottish manner afterwards at his house.
De CARLO. On January 26, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, MARIA (Mary), of Valletta, aged 71, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Salvinu, her sons Nazju and his wife Louise, Mario and his wife Valerie, residing in UK, and Massimo and his wife Ruth, her grandchildren Alessio, Christian, Noela, Aidan and David, her brothers Charles and his wife Doris and Freddie and his wife Annie, Tessie, widow of her brother Joe, residing in Australia, and Nena, widow of her brother Paul, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
POLIDANO. On January 27, at St Vincent De Paule residence, THERESA, of Sliema, aged 83, widow of Publius, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Marlene and her husband Francis, her sons Tony and his wife Isabelle, Michael and his wife Bernadette and Mario and his wife Carmen, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paule residence tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. PULLICINO. On January 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIO, aged 60, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after an illness borne with Christian fortitude. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Doris, née Rizzo, his daughters Lisa and her husband Paul Micallef Grimaud, Kristina and her fiancé Mirko Rapa Manche and Gillian and her boyfriend Gaston Camilleri, his sisters and brothers, Joyce, Frank and his wife Josephine, John and his wife Jennifer, Helen and her husband Mr Justice Geoffrey Valenzia, and Lydia, his in-laws and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and his many friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Helen's Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Mater Dei and Sir Paul Boffa Hospitals. SCIBERRAS. On January 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, CONNIE, née Gerada, widow of Emanuel, aged 88, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Antoinette and her husband Carmel Vella Brincat, Louis and his wife Geraldine, Paul and his wife Christine, Judy, Alfred and his wife Anna, Grace and her husband Gilbert Gatt, Felix and his wife Maria, Jean and her husband Adrien Bonnici, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Juliette and her husband Emanuel and their daughter Anna-Maria, and Rose and her husband Louis Aloisio of Australia, her sister-in-law Helen, widow of Sam Gerada of Australia, her brother-in-law Alfred Zammit, widower of Lily of Australia and her sister-in-law Teresa and her husband Joseph Muscat of Canada. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. On the fifth anniversary of the death of Fr CHARLES CARUANA, SJ, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated today at 7 p.m. at the University chapel, Msida. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.

From 7.30 a.m. to 13.30 p.m. in parts of Ivo Muscat Azzopardi and Żebbuġ streets, St Julians.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Pietru Felici, Dun Ġwann Cilia, Ġorġ Żammit, L-Eroj ta' Sant' Iermu, Anġlu Borg, Ġużè Cardona and Pawl Sammut streets and part of Nikol Baldacchino Street, Qormi.
Għaxaq sub-post office
A new sub post office will open in Għaxaq on Monday, Maltapost said. It will be located at Marcham Stationery, Santa Marija Street, Għaxaq, GXQ 1716 and will open between 7 a.m. and noon and 4 - 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday and between 7 a.m. and noon on Saturday. The new office replaces Rose Bazaar of Triq Santa Marija, which will cease operating as a post office on Monday.
