Obituary

CACHIA. On April 22, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, Dr FRANCIS Cachia, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Lilian née Vella, his sisters Cecilia, Margaret and her husband Hans Tisch, his in-laws May, Yvonne, Marjorie, Carmen, Ines, Edward, Maria, widow of Victor Vella, Lucienne, widow of Godfrey Vella, his nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Puttinu Cares will be greatly appreciated. Special thanks to all the staff at St Joseph Ward, Zammit Clapp Hospital. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

DEMICOLI. On April 20, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, EILEEN, aged 69, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Victor and his wife Hilda, Silvio and his wife Shiela, Ray and his wife Angela, Charles and his wife Daniela and Saviour and his wife Bernadette, her brother-in-law Carol Attard and her sister-in-law Astrid DeMicoli, and all her nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence today at 1.30 p.m. for the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass will be said at 2 p.m. No flowers please, donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi.

GATT. On April 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, Fr PHILIP GATT, PhB, SThB, aged 82, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters Sr Irene, OP, Ġemma and Mary, his brother Tarcisio and his wife Maria, Ivy, widow of his brother Joseph, his nephews and nieces, Frankie, Maryanne, Philip, Tonio and Joseph Galea, Maryrose, Joseph, Philip and Lino Mallia, Pierre and Michael Gatt and their respective families, the Rev. Archpriest, clergy, the parishioners of Żebbuġ, other relatives and friends. Fr Philip Gatt will be laid for the respect of the public tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, Żebbuġ. The funeral will then leave the chapel for Żebbuġ parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Żebbuġ. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MUSCAT. On April 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAUL of St Julians, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Josephine and husband Raymond Spiteri, Carmen Azzopardi, Tony (Banis) and Karen, Roger and wife Carmen, Doris and husband Emanuel Caruana, Mario and wife Miriam, Martin and wife Sylvia, David and wife Mary Jean, his daughter-in-law Rita, his 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, his bro-thers and sisters Franġiska, Tony, Renè and Doris, his wife's family, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.45 a.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.15 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Ce-metery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Requiem masses

On the occasion of the trigesima die of the death of OLGA MERCIECA, all Masses said on April 25 at St Patrick's church, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of her soul. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

VELLA. Treasured memories of our dearest mother MARIA, today the 18th anniversary of her death. Lovingly remembered by Edith and Louis, Cecilia and Vincent and her grandchildren.

DLĦ spring fÊte

Din l-Art Ħelwa will be holding its annual Spring Fête and open day at the historic Msida Bastion Garden on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual open day provides the NGO with much-needed income for the maintenance of the spectacular historic garden.

Guided tours by volunteer historians will be held at 12.45 p.m. and 2 p.m. Artists will be setting up their easels for an outdoor painting session during the event.

The Msida Bastion Garden of Rest is best reached by taking the first turning left on Great Siege Road below the Phoenicia Hotel outside Valletta, then the first fork right down past the public library below Belt is-Sebħ.

Admission is free.

From 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in parts of Salib tal-Imrieħel and San Ġwakkin streets in Mrieħel.

From 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in Tappizzar and part of Kummerċ streets and the Tal-Blat 2 Housing Estate in Qormi.
