Obituary

BONDIN. On May 4, at her daughter's home, LUCIA, widow of John, aged 69, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children Isabelle and her husband Mario Farrugia and Joseph and his wife Marvi, her grandchildren Claire, Anne, John and Mark, her sisters Martha Ciantar, Evangelista Grech, Joan wife of Edward Tabone of UK and her brother Anthony and his wife Josephine Ciantar, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Zebbug parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Sacred Heart of Jesus cemetery, Zebbug. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

FENECH. On May 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, WINSTON of Swieqi, aged 58, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Josephine, his children Gordon and his wife Angele, and Karen, his sisters and brothers, Lina, Emmanuel, Joyce and Oscar Grech, George, Doris and Joe Debono, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.15 a.m. for St Cajetan parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to The Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRISCTI. On May 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIE LOUISE, widow of Walter, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved daughter Angele Bonello, her loving partner Lt Col Antoine Pace Bonello, her grandchildren Marcus and his wife Christine, Miguel and his wife Annabelle, her great-grandchildren Jasmine, Leah, Louis, Emma and Andrew, her sisters Iris and her husband Eddie Bonnici, Joan and her husband Albert Camilleri, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Creche, Sliema will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. May the Lord grant her eternal rest. The family thank the dedicated staff at Mater Dei Hospital.

PSAILA. On May 1, at her residence in Victoria, MARY JANE, aged 67, went to meet the Risen Lord. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved husband Joe, her children Anselm and his wife Sharon, Ivana and her husband Joe Farrugia, Anna Maria and her husband Peter Borg, her grandchildren Paul, John, Maria, Martha and Andrea, her brothers George, Joe and John, her sister Stella and their respective families, her mother-in-law Helen Psaila, nephews and nieces, in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Pjazza Sabina today at 4.30 p.m. for the Gozo Cathedral where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 5 p.m., followed by interment at St John the Baptist Cemetery, Xewkija. Donations to the Arka Respite Centre, Għajnsielem, will be appreciated.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts as follows today:

From 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Rettur, Santa Marija, Saverio Laferla, Ġoswalda Calleja, Gio Battista Riccio, San Bastjan and Minġel streets in Żurrieq.

And tomorrow:

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Wied, Karmnu and Wied Babu streets in Żurrieq.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in parts of Dun Ġwann Theuma, Dun Mikiel Xerri, Dorġa, Victor Vassallo and Ballut streets in Attard.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Ħut, Silla, L-Imriekeb and Qaliet streets in Marsascala.

From 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Isouard, San Ġeraldu and San Arestarku streets and the Sirens pitch in St Paul's Bay.

Hamlet elections

Fourteen nominations were submitted yesterday for the Administrative Committees for Communities elections, the Electoral Commission said.

In all, 40 people must be elected to a total of eight hamlets in what marks the second round of Administrative Committee elections.

The nominations received were from Simonia Aquilina for Burmarrad, George Attard, Paul Grech, Angelo Portelli and Christine Sarcia for Baħrija, Cecilia Bonello for Tal-Virtù, Joseph Pierre Bonello, Mary Anne Cuomo and Mario Hili for Baħar iċ-Cagħaq, Luciano Farrugia for St Peter's and Rudolph Cini, Francis Dimech, Kathleen Mangion and Jane Spiteri for Swatar.

Young musicians

The final night of the Eighth Young Musicians Contest 2010, organised by the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, will be held at the Casino Maltese, Valletta on May 19 at 6.45 p.m.

The 12 finalists will be contesting the Promising Category and the Mature Category, both with string, woodwind and brass instruments.

Public dialogue

As part of the activities by the National Council of Women for the European Year Combating Poverty & Social Exclusion 2010, Joe Camilleri, Director of Social Services, will make a presentation on social security measures with particular reference to entitlement of widows' benefits followed by a discussion. The event will be held at the Museum of Archaeology in Republic Street, Valletta on May 13 at 5.30 p.m.
