Obituary

GIBSON. On May 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN, of Mellieħa, born South Uist Scotland, aged 67, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Victoria, his son Paul and partner Simone, his daughters Karen and her husband Sunny, Michelle and her husband Robin and Maria, his grandchildren Thomas, Cora, Jake, Benjamin and Zara, his brothers Eoin, Jimmy and sisters Nan, Mary and Joan, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the parish church of Our Lady of Victory in Mellieħa where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. followed by interment at the Sultana tal-Vittorji cemetery, Mellieħa. No flowers by request but donations to the Renal Unit at Mater Dei Hospital will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PALMER - ELIZABETH, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved family, her daughter Vivien and her husband Ernest, her daughter-in-law Ellen, her grandchildren Maria, Peter, Lourdes, Brian, John, Alexandra, and James, her great-grandsons James and Daniel, her brother Len and family. A private family funeral will be held. No flowers but donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema. The family thank the dedicated staff at Emergency 2, Mater Dei Hospital, and the dedicated staff at St Joseph 22, St Vincent de Paul residence.

REAVILL. On May 11 2010, MOLLY of UK, residing in Mellieħa, passed peacefully away at Mount Carmel Hospital at the age of 101. She leaves to mourn her loss her friends in Malta, Edward and his wife Antoinette Abela, M'Anne and her husband Freddie Micallef, Mary Vella and her husband, Mrs Annste and her husband Lies Park and other numerous friends. The funeral leaves Mount Carmel Hospital tomorrow at 1.15 p.m. to Sultana tal-Vittorji cemetery, Mellieħa where a service will be held at 2 p.m. followed by interment.

SCERRI. On May 11, Sr MARGARET SCERRI, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition, her sister Josephine Mifsud, her nephews Fr Salvinu Caruana, OSA, Edwin, Tonio, Patrick, her nieces Marcelline, Josette, Margaret, Marthese, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at St Joseph Convent, St Dominic Square, Rabat, tomorrow at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Sagra Familja, Żabbar will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SULTANA. On May 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, Dr ROBERT SULTANA, LLD, aged 26, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his father Prof. Victor Sultana, his mother Lydia, his sister Dr Sarah Sultana, his brother Kenneth, his brother-in-law Johann Baldacchino Romano, his father's and mother's families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord grant him eternal rest.

TILNEY. On May 10, at home, IVOR, aged 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Emma, his children Terence and his wife Myra, Taygeta and her husband Edward, and his grandchildren Tristan, Stuart and Russel. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, tomorrow at 2.15 p.m. for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Patrick's Salesians, Sliema, will be appreciated.

BUTTIGIEG - MARY, née Caruana Demajo, 12.5.2001. Dearest mamà, after nine years I still miss you immensely. You were my model, my educator, always ready to listen, advise, offer encouragement and assistance. Your love touched my life and will continue to influence me forever. Today my treasures are happy memories of past years. Till we will be reunited, please watch over me. I love you. Antoinette.

CAMILLERI - SPIRIDIONE. Ever cherished memories of our beloved father on the seventh anniversary of his joining the Lord. Ever in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. His wife Mary, his children Jesmond, Alexander and Valhmor, relatives and friends.

CHETCUTI - MIRIAM, née Pearson. In ever-loving memory of a dear wife, mother and grandmother, today the 18th anniversary of her passing away. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Charles, her daughters Romina and her husband Noel, Marilyn and her husband David, Josianne and Malcolm, her grandchildren Ryan and Faith, her parents Alfie and Josephine Pearson, her brother Albert and family, relatives and friends. Dear Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CUTAJAR - PAUL. In ever loving memory of a dear husband and father on the first anniversary of his passing away. We miss you now, our hearts are sore, as time goes by we miss you more. His wife Carmen, sons Sergei and Yanov, his sisters, brother, in-laws, relatives and friends.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities today:

From 3 to 6 p.m. in part of Rummien Street, and in Apap Bologna, Btieti, Buhagiar Salvu, Buttar, Ċrieki, Dugħ, Friefet, Ġebel Ħanxul, Gemmugħa, Gross, Ħabberxa, Ħortan, L-Iskal, Magħluq, Pesci Ġużè, Qrempuċ, Sant'Anna, Sant'Antnin, Xatt, Xibka, Żafran and Żinżell streets and Ir-Razzett tal-Ħbiberija in Marsascala.

The electricity supply will be suspended as follows tomorrow:

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in parts of Kardinal Ferretti, Annibale Preca and Mitħna streets and in San Luċinju, Santa Mansweta and Depiro streets in Lija.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bajja tas-Salina, F. Ximenes, Kappella tal-Lunzjata, Barrakki tal-Melħ, Katakombi, Latnija and Għall streets, Qasam ta' San Ġorġ, Mejjieli, Ħabel Żwejra, Għallis, Qadi, Luċija, Xagħret Frankin and Ħodba l-Bajda areas in Salina.

International cat show

If you think your cat has star qualities and can claw its way to the top, you have until Friday to enter your feline into the International Cat Show.

Organised by the Malta Feline Guardians Club, the show, which is the last for this season, will be held between 2 and 8 p.m. on May 22 and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 23 at the Monte Kristo Estates, in the limits of Siġġiewi.

A wide variety of breeds will be flaunting their fur coats, among them Persians, British Long Hair, Maine Coons and Russian Blue. The cats will be judged by two professionals from the World Cat Federation.
