FORMOSA. On June 24, at St James Hospital, VICTOR LORIS of Sliema, widower of Iris, née Callus, aged 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Iris Serge, widow of Alfred, and his brother Rene and Yvonne, his beloved grand niece Buzzi and John, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Hospital in Sliema today at 9.15 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be appreciated.

HAYES. My dear BERYL, it is now 10 very long years since you went to join your Holy Father in heaven. You are still sadly missed by your husband Tom, your family, my family and all your friends in Malta and England and everyone who was fortunate enough to know you, but most of all by the many children who loved you so much and who you loved so much in return. They have now grown up into such fine ladies and gentlemen, and you would be so proud of them all. Our neighbours and friends often speak about you and a day never passes without someone mentioning your name. May God bless you, dear Beryl, and hold you very close. Although we can no longer see you or touch you, we feel your presence all around us every day. Please pray for us all dear Beryl until that day when we all meet again.

Hospice barbecue

The Malta Hospice Movement will put on its annual summer barbecue at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Floriana on July 14 at 8 p.m.

Proceeds from this event will go towards the free services provided by the hospice to families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease or other terminal diseases.

Because the number of tables is limited, it is advisable to book early.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities tomorrow:

From 8 to 11 a.m. in Assumption, Kerċem, Pawlu Portelli, St Mary, Valley and Imblokk tal-Franċiżi streets in Victoria.

From 2.30 to 5 p.m. in Qigħan Sant'Indrija, Mġarr, Garden and Imrejżbiet streets in Għajnsielem.

There will be power cuts from 8.30 p.m. to noon on Monday in parts of Gafà Street, parts of Independence Avenue, Għarusa tal-Mosta Street and the surrounding area in Mosta.

Fund-raising carwash

The Island Sanctuary Association, which looks after stray and abandoned dogs, will be organising a car wash fund-raiser on July 4. It will take place at the Salesians' Oratory in Sliema between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
