Obituary

AQUILINA. On June 28, at home in St Julians, LINA née Mifsud, aged 82, widow of Francis X., passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church surrounded by her children. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved children Mark and his wife Jackie, David and his wife Jackie, Eileen and her husband Jean Paul Pagnoud, Martin and his wife Mary and Christine, her grandchildren Nicola, Thomas, Elsa, Celine, Matthew, Paul and their respective spouses, in-laws, other relatives and numerous friends. Mass praesante cadavere will be said tomorrow at 9.15 a.m. at St Julians parish church followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement and the Malta Community Chest Fund will be greatly appreciated. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

FALZON. On June 28, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANNA of Rabat, aged 40, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her father Anthony and her mother Mary, her grandmother Carmela, her uncles and aunties, cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. for Ta' Ġieżu church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Margherita Cemetery, Rabat. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family wish to thank all the medical and nursing staff of Ward M6, Mater Dei Hospital.

FARRUGIA. On June 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, widow of Anthony (In-Noni), of Floriana, aged 85, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Monica and her husband Henry Fleri, Tony and his wife Doris, Raymond and his wife Kasia, her grandchildren Duncan, Christine, Claire, Mario, Sasha and Jamie, her sisters Polly and Josephine, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On June 28, at Mater Dei Hospital, GEORGE of Sliema, aged 76, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Aida, his brothers and sisters, Frans and his wife Betty, Josephine and her husband Frank, Carmen and her husband Lenard, Winnie, Ina, Bernardette, widow of Paul, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

There will be power cuts in the following localities tomorrow:

From 7 a.m. to noon in Għassara tal-Għeneb and Ħaddiem streets and Spencer Hill in Marsa.

From 8 a.m. to noon in parts of Independence Avenue in Żurrieq.

From 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in Ta' Doti, Għadira, Klula, Qasam, San Pawl, Santa Luċija and Santwarju Puniku streets in Kerċem.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Tas-Salib, San Ġorġ, San Ġużepp, San Mikiel, Santa Marija, Żahra Franġisk, Fortizza, Ġarġir, Ġarni, Żnuber, Rattan, Pellegrini, Barrieri, Fortizza and Kbira streets and Tas-Salib Square in Mellieħa.

Culture listings

The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts is in the process of collecting data on cultural events scheduled for October to December.

Cultural and artistic event organisers are requested to send details of activities scheduled for this period. They should also send a three-line description of each event. Where possible, photos and visual material should be attached.
