Obituary
DIMECH. On June 30, at her residence, MIRIAM of St Julians, aged 84, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Paul and his wife Rachel, Madeleine and her husband Sebastian De Groot, Jackie and her husband Edwin Ebejer, Nathalie and her husband Rainer Huber and Rachel and her husband Mario Fenech, her grandchildren Thomas, Petra, Elena, Miguel, Stefan, Carina, Sina and Ryan, her sister Odette and her husband Godfrey Cassar Trigona and her carer Marites Abalos, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
SOLER. On July 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH A., aged 84, former manager of Malta Television, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved wife Annina née Laferla, his daughters JoAnna and Alex Stellini, Paula and Herbert Psaila, Vicki and Chuck Azzopardi, his grandchildren Gianfranco, Nicky, Lisa, Roberta, Marc, Alan, Ana, Michele and Sharon, and their respective partners, his great-grandchildren Rachel, Sebastian, Michael, Ella, Sean and Zac, his brother the Rev. Fr Victor, his in-laws Renato, Aldo and Yolanda, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be said at L-Ibraġġ parish church on Monday at 2 p.m. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement or Dar tal -Providenza will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff of the Urology Ward 1 at Mater Dei Hospital and his personal carers Josephine and MaryGrace for their kindness and dedication. God, grant him eternal rest.
ZAMMIT. On July 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of Qawra, aged 77, widower of Rose, née Mifsud, old boy Salesians of Don Bosco, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Mary Rose, his grandchildren Kurt and Luke, relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 8.30 a.m. at St Francis of Assisi parish church, Qawra, followed by interment at the Divine Mercy Cemetery, St Paul's Bay. No flowers by request but donations to the Salesians of Don Bosco, Sliema, will be greatly appreciated. The family wishes to thank the medical and nursing staff at Medical Ward 3, Mater Dei Hospital. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

Research funding
The Malta Council for Science and Technology will host a repeat information session on the National Funding Opportunities for Research for those who missed the first session held recently. It will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Villa Bighi in Kalkara.
In view of this extra session, the original pre-registration deadline, by which interested parties were required to register their project, has been extended to July 12.

Qualifications seminar
The Malta Qualifications Council will hold a European Qualifications Framework Information Seminar at the Corinthia San Ġorġ Hotel, St Julians, on Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

Day by the pool
The fund-raising and social activities committee of the Physically Handicapped Rehabilitation Fund in Paola is organising a day by the pool on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Sunny Coast leisure club, Qawra. Those who want to attend can call Helen Sciberras on 9984 5600 or Rita Bezzina on 2169 3863.
US Embassy closure
