JACCARINI. On February 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, Fr MARIO JACCARINI, SJ, aged 82, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brethren of the Society of Jesus in Malta, his sister Rosa, widow of Joe Consiglio, his brother Fr Victor, SJ, his sister Lilian and her husband Anthony Pace, his brother Louis and his wife Marlene, Carol and his wife Grace, his sister Hilda and her husband Victor DeMicoli, nephews, nieces, the members of the Youth Fellowship community and of the Praise the Name of Jesus Prayer Group, relatives and many friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Interment takes place at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. MUSCAT. On February 16, at his residence, JOHN of Msida, proprietor of Vesuvius Pastizzeria, Ħamrun, aged 70, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Talk on archaeology

Experimental Archaeology is the theme of a talk Christopher Busuttil will give today at 6 p.m. at the offices of Din l-Art Ħelwa in Valletta. The talk will focus on numerous archaeological sites in Malta and the interpretation of excavated data through modern scientific practice.

Religious conscience

A lecture on the theme Free To Believe? A Religious Conscience In A Secular Society will be held by the Institute for Research on the Signs of the Times ­(Discern) at the Hotel Phoenicia, Floriana, on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Roger Trigg, professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Warwick and academic director at the Centre for the Study of Religion in Public Life, Kellogg College, Oxford.
