Annual award for playwrights

An annual award for Maltese playwrights has been launched by The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.

The award, called Premju Drama, is substituting Premju Francis Ebejer.

The Premju Drama - Kunsill Malti ghall-Kultura u l-Arti is meant to encourage productions of high quality playwriting.

The council said it will give preference to plays in the Maltese language. In the absence of such plays or else if no Maltese play meets the required standards and criteria, plays by Maltese citizens in other languages and performed in the Maltese islands will be considered, the council said.
