Annual free vaccination campaign launched
Influenza, COVID-19 and PCV 20 vaccines will be offered at public health centres
The Health Ministry launched its annual seasonal vaccination campaign, providing free vaccinations against the most recent variants of influenza and the COVID-19 virus.
Launched on Monday, the campaign will once again offer three essential vaccines free of charge to all eligible individuals.
The COVID-19 vaccine, which has been updated to include the latest variants, will be offered to those aged six months and above. The influenza vaccine, also updated to match the most prevalent strains, will be available to everyone aged six months and over.
The PCV 20 vaccine protects against infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, will be available to everyone aged 18 and over.
In a press release, the Health Ministry said vaccines are crucial to reduce preventable diseases, especially among vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with chronic conditions, pregnant women and health care workers.
"Vaccination is an important step we can all take to protect ourselves and those we love," Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela said, encouraging the public to take full advantage of the free vaccination services.
Adults may receive the vaccine between 1pm and 7pm at Health Centres across Malta and Gozo.
Children between six months and eight years will start to be offered the service from November 8, between 8am and 5pm, from Health Centres in Floriana, Mosta, Censu Moran at Raħal Ġdid and in Gozo.
