The Għaqda Mużikali L’Isle Adam is presenting a varied programme − from operatic arias to film music and Maltese numbers
The Għaqda Mużikali L’Isle Adam is holding its annual Mnarja concert in Saqqajja Square, Rabat, on June 29 at 8pm. The event, mainly featuring the Banda Dekana u Ċittadina L’Isle Adam, is held as part of the traditional Mnarja celebrations honouring the feast of the martyrdom of the apostles St Peter and St Paul.
This year’s programme offers a rich and varied repertoire, blending symphonic works, operatic favourites and popular classics. Audiences will enjoy By Loch and Mountain by Robert W. Smith, alongside highlights from La Forza del Destino and La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, presented in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the composer’s death.
The programme also includes Palladio by Karl Jenkins in an arrangement by Mauro Farrugia, and the iconic The Magnificent Seven by Elmer Bernstein, conducted by assistant director Joseph Chircop.
The concert will also feature a guest appearance by Maltese singer David Sammut, who will perform selections from Frank Sinatra in Concert and a medley of Maltese favourites entitled Fuq iz-Zuntier ma’ Enzo, arranged by Anthony Chircop. The evening will further include traditional hymns associated with the Mnarja celebrations and the L’Isle Adam band.
The concert will be conducted by music director William Debattista and is open to the public free of charge.
