Maltapost is the latest company to sponsor the Malta Journalism Awards held annually by the Institute of Maltese Journalists.

There are 12 categories in this year's Malta Journalism Awards, including three new ones. The new categories are: Cultural Tourism; Print Journalism (features) and an overall award for the Journalist of the Year, with the prize being an attachment to a newspaper or TV/radio station abroad.

The agreement with Maltapost was signed last week at the company's head office in Qormi when Maltapost chairman David Stellini met institute chairman Malcolm J. Naudi and secretary Joe A. Vella. Also present was Tony Barbaro Sant, Maltapost's public relations manager.

Mr Stellini commended the institute for the work it carries out and hoped the sponsorship would foster the improvement of the Maltese language in journalism.
