Anti-discrimination legislation is delivering

The Muscular Dystrophy Group welcomes the two decisions by the courts in favour of disabled persons in their work to eliminate discrimination against persons with disabilities.

The University of Malta and Michele Peresso Ltd were both found guilty of discriminating against persons with reduced mobility - the University due to lack of access to Students House and Michele Peresso because the building from where they sell equipment for persons with disabilities itself isn't accessible.

These sentences confirm how important was the work that our group and other disability NGOs did in all these years in favour of disabled persons, in particular when it comes to accessibility in our surroundings.

The Muscular Dystrophy Group always found the financial support it needed to continue offering services to its members but unfortunately our members, like other people with mobility impairments, still face problems when it comes to accessibility. Many places are still inaccessible and this is stopping persons with disabilities from living their lives as independently as possible.

We believe that similar sentences will help disabled persons to continue their struggle for a better quality of life free of social barriers and discrimination as indicated in Act I of 2000, the Equal Opportunities (Persons with Disability) Act.
