A coalition of disparate organisations has been formed to "safeguard the environment from unsustainable golf course development".
The coalition, called Eko-Logika, is campaigning under the banner Insalvaw din L-Art (Save this Land).
It is made up of Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party, AD's Gozo Regional Committee, The Ceratonia Foundation, Moviment Graffitti; Inizjamed; Dripht; Zminijietna Lehen ix-Xellug; Third World Group and the Sannat Residents Association.
The coalition said yesterday two separate golf course proposals threaten to swallow up beautiful coastal landscapes at Xaghra l-Hamra in the north-west of Malta and at Ta' Cenc, in Gozo.
Garigue and agricultural land risk being destroyed for development on tracts of land each as large as Sliema, it said.
