Serendipity, a Young Enterprise company participant in this year's HSBC company programme, has set up a fund linked to the sale of its products with which trees are sponsored whenever a product is sold.
The YE company has taken the initiative in view of the fact that its product, antiquity boxes, is made of wood. The company created a fund for trees to be sponsored and customers will be given a certificate of planting. For this initiative, the company teamed up with Nature Trust Malta and the first tree was planted recently at the Wied Ghollieqa Nature Reserve.
Nature Trust (Malta) president Vincent Attard welcomed the company's initiative adding that such campaigns help the environment by adding value through the creation of public awareness on the need to conserve and protect the environment.
Serendipity is made up of 12 De La Salle College students. Its product is a wooden box which is individually hand made according to customer requirements. The unique aging, crackling process makes each box look old. The most popular variation of the product includes, on the outside, photos of the purchaser, his or her family or friends.
