The Galaxy Aparthotel won the JMC award for best self-catering unit in its category. JMC, one of the leading UK tour operators, forms part of the Thomas Cook Group that is one of the largest European tour operators.

The award was given to the four-star hotel for best self-catering apartments in the region covering Malta, Italy, and Tunisia and Egypt. It was awarded on the basis of customer service questionnaires and complaint ratio statistics.

The award was presented to the hotel's general manager Josef Formosa Gauci during the Partners in Excellence Award dinner held recently in London.

The 300-room hotel is currently refurbishing a number of its hotel rooms and upgrading its public areas and conference facilities. It started work on an extension to the property that will include 50 additional units, a third restaurant and parking.
