It was announced in London that the Lord Chief Justice Lord Woolf, with the agreement of the Lord Chancellor, has appointed Lord Justice Judge, the senior presiding judge for England and Wales, to be the Deputy Chief Justice.

Lord Justice Judge is the son of the late Raymond Judge and of Rosa Micallef Judge of San Pawl tat-Targa.
