Archbishop Paul Cremona is "spreading the word of God" through social media for the very first time as he celebrates his 67th birthday today.

"God told us to spread his word. In the past they did this on foot, but now there are different media," he said as he sat in front of his laptop, at his residence in Attard, ready to use Facebook for the first time.

This was a new world and it was important for the church to communicate in modern ways, he said.

Apart from being his birthday today, tomorrow he celebrates six years since he was ordained Archbishop.
