The Archbishop, Mgr Joseph Mercieca has sent his condolences to the relatives of the former Apostolic Nuncio, Mgr Jose Sebastian Laboa, on behalf of the Maltese Church and as the president of the Maltese Episcopal Conference.

Mgr Laboa died a few days ago in Spain.

Labour MP Carmelo Abela, speaking in parliament yesterday morning, also paid tribute to Mgr Laboa for his service in Malta and in other countries, particularly Panama and Libya.

Mgr Laboa was undoubtedly a distinguished diplomat. A particular feature was that he always put the human being before everything else.
