The chairman of the Boathouse Owners' Association and Armier Developments Ltd, Tarcisio Barbara, said yesterday the project to replace the shabby boathouses in Armier with modern beach rooms would cost in the region of Lm22 million.

He said that the Lm5 million estimate he had made earlier only covered the demolition and the construction of the beach rooms.

He said that after Armier Developments Ltd had applied to Mepa, it had carried out a detailed study of the project which included the infrastructure including drainage, water and electricity services, landscaping and the street network and street furniture and the 500 beach rooms for the public.

The project consists of the construction of over l,500 beach rooms. One-third will be allocated to members of the public who did not have a boathouse at Armier.

The Lm22 million estimate excluded taxes, Mr Barbara said.
