Nationalist MP Robert Arrigo on Tuesday thanked the prime minister for having been among those who helped him after a traffic accident close to the Auberge de Castille on Monday afternoon.

He said in a Facebook post that his car was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by a young man, and he had urged Robert Abela to help such workers.

In the original post, Arrigo had said the young man had just lost his job shortly before the accident had happened.

However, Times of Malta has since spoken to the 20-year-old driver of the other car and his employer, who both say he did not lose his job and was awarded 'employee of the year' in 2019.

Arrigo later amended his post.
