Again I had to read about arson attacks that happened in Malta in the report Arson Suspected In Four Car Fires (July 7).

I have lost count. How often have I read such headlines on The Times in the past months? What is happening? What is going on in Malta?

The first arson attacks were said to have a xenophobic and racist background. Is it still the same? Or have other groups and criminals found a new instrument of violence against people?

And where are the police? How advanced are the investigations in these cases, which could even be classified as terrorist attacks? There have been no arrests so far. Why not? Are people blind and don't see what's happening around them? There have been so many arson attacks and nobody has seen anything or anybody!

Either the investigating authorities are incapable and incompetent or they are ignorant and incurious.

Anyway, I am concerned about these developments and this new quality of destructive violence in Malta's streets.
