Art by 12 inmates of Corradino Prisons goes on display today as part of an educational project called Unlock.

The aim of the project is to unlock the inmates' potential.

Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said during the inauguration that educational programmes at the prisons, whether formal or informal, had tripled over the past year. The programmes were part of the process of rehabilitation to better prepare the inmates for reintegration in society.

More than 200 inmates are currently attending some kind of training or educational programme, including drama and music.

The inmates' exhibition opens today at the Malta School of Art as part of the Valletta International Visual Arts Festival.
