Gozo’s Arthall to host launch of Andy Young’s new novel ‘Tide of War’

Military thriller delves into the inner conflicts of those who serve in the military

Arthall in Victoria, Gozo, will host the official launch of Tide of War, the latest novel by retired US Army officer and Malta resident Andy Young. The event will take place on December 5 at 7.30pm at the gallery.

Set against the tense backdrop of November 1990, as Coalition forces assemble in Saudi Arabia on the eve of Desert Storm, Tide of War explores the psychological and moral battles waged far from the public eye. The story follows a covert military team preparing for a mission that could change the course of the Gulf War.

At the heart of the novel is Captain Dillon Bombi, tasked with leading a newly formed unit into hostile territory while grappling with questions of duty, trust, and personal conscience. Alongside him are Sergeant Luke Shoalwater, a seasoned soldier whose loyalty is unwavering; Miriam, a civilian medic confronting both past wounds and the moral cost of compassion; and Sergeant Mo al-Asadi, a Royal Marine torn between duty and family.

Authentic and character-driven, Tide of War delves into the inner conflicts of those who serve, highlighting the human dimension of military operations and the moral dilemmas that arise when duty and morality collide.

Young, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Reserve Organization of America, is also an active member of Rotary International. He will attend the event to present his book, followed by a signing session.
