Artist Pawlu Camilleri Cauchi shares his insights with MUSEUM members
He has made various artistic contributions to the Visitation of Our Lady basilica in Għarb
Young members of the Society of Social Doctrine (MUSEUM) from Malta and Gozo recently took part in an enriching discussion with renowned artist Pawlu Camilleri Cauchi at the basilica and collegiate parish church of the Visitation of Our Lady in Għarb.
Camilleri Cauchi shared insights into his artistic contribution to the basilica, including the ceiling decoration, the design of the crown used for the canonical coronation of the titular image of Our Lady, and the portraits of distinguished personalities displayed in the sacristy. The artist also spoke about his work on the painted decorations featured on the external feast furniture used during the parish feast celebrations.
The discussion offered the young participants a valuable opportunity to appreciate the artistic, religious and cultural heritage of the Maltese islands, while encouraging them to deepen their understanding of the traditions that continue to shape our national identity. The discussion was held with the collaboration of Għarb archpriest Trevor Sultana.
