A group of artists have accepted the challenge of transforming a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art, and their projects will be exhibited in Valletta this week.

The artists recently finished off their projects for this year’s Red Bull Curates Valletta special edition, to be displayed a live installation at City Gate.

The 10 artists participating are Aleksandar Vojvodic, John Mark Sammut, Bernard Montebello, Belen Parades, Joshua Parlato Trigona, Fran Borg Costanzi, Gabrijela Parigros, Daneil Romero Cala, Zach Ritchie and Edgar Farrugia.

The coolers are being exhibited at St James Cavalier until Sunday.

Once the winner is chosen, the 10 coolers, painstakingly des­­­igned throughout the duration of the competition, will find their places in Valletta’s trendiest bars, pubs and restaurants.

This year, Valletta is slotted to enjoy hosting privileges as a European Capital of Culture.

The journey began earlier this year when almost 50 artists responded to an open call that lasted over a month. The judges narrowed the list to the 10 artists who will take part in this year’s Valletta special edition.
