A concert of sacred music will be held at the Gozo Cathedral in Victoria tomorrow, as part of the festival Cittadella - Gozo for Arts and Culture organised by the Leone Philharmonic Society.

The concert is dedicated to Sta Marija, and will include for the first time ever a concert version of the Missa in Sollemnitate Mariae Assumptae, penned by the Maltese composer Joseph Sammut as well as the Magnificat de Missa in Sollemnitate Sanctae Mariae Assumptae.

The soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor and bass parts will be sung by Rita Dimech, Marie Therese Vassallo, Joseph Aquilina and Noel Galea respectively.

The cathedral orchestra and the cathedral's two resident choirs will also participate. Musical direction will be in the hands of Mro Colin Attard, the Maestro di Cappella of the Gozo Cathedral and artistic director of the concert.

Entrance is free.

The festival ends on Friday with a cultural tour of the cathedral church and the Citadel led by Dr Joseph Bezzina and with a Maltese musical and culinary evening at the band club's foyer in Republic Street, Victoria.

Tickets for these two activities are available from the band club's premises at Lm2 per activity. Further details can be obtained by phoning 2156 2974 or by logging onto the web-site.
