Artists should use their talents to give something back to the community, Pauleen Micallef says, a belief which prompted her to set up an art sale with part of the proceeds going to the Inspire Foundation.

As final preparations are underway for the exhibition, running from Thursday to Sunday at the Inspire Foundation’s reception area, Ms Micallef said that the decision to hold such a sale came as she wanted to clear up some space in her personal art gallery.

“I was clearing up and have some 70 paintings that I wanted to sell and so I decided to do this while also giving a helping hand to such an important foundation,” Ms Micallef said.

Just as singers and other artists often participated in fundraising events, painters should also use their talents to help those in need by using their artworks to do some good, according to  Ms Micallef.

This was not the first time she has offered a helping hand, having helped other foundations in the past.

However, this is the first time she would be taking her art to Inspire, with 25 per cent of the works’ final price going towards the foundation.
