The woman who claimed she was the victim of sexual abuse by a former police commissioner yesterday requested the return of her belongings exhibited in the magisterial inquiry, including gifts made by the former commissioner.

Isobel Azzopardi filed an application before the Magistrates' Court requesting the return of a portrait of herself in a silver frame, three cards, one of which included a picture of George Grech, the former commissioner, a towel and other items. Azzopardi requested that the items be returned in their original condition since it seemed the Attorney General no longer had an interest in the inquiry.

The inquiry had concluded there were sufficient reasons to take criminal action against Grech for attempted rape but Attorney General Anthony Borg Barthet had decided against because the evidence was weak and not sufficiently credible.
