A Qormi man was yesterday charged with threatening and assaulting a police sergeant on Thursday.

Emanuel Spiteri, 28, pleaded not guilty to threatening and assaulting PS John Baptist Giusti, causing Lm10 damage to his uniform, breaching the peace and disobeying police in St Julian's.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.
