The area known as Madliena/High Ridge has over the years been rather neglected, to say the least. This can be seen by the general conditions of the physical surroundings, roads, lighting etc.

Something practical had to be done about this situation and so the government decided to form a separate Madliena Hamlet Committee, to take care of the Madliena area and look after the concerns of the residents.

Six people, all residents of Madliena - Mary Anne Abela, Kenneth De Martino, Wallace Farrugia, Anna Paris, Frank Salt and Quentin Tanti - have volunteered to stand on this committee. This committee will comprise five persons. But in order to stand and serve for the next four years, they have to be elected in a formal way. This election will take place on Saturday, March 27, at the local government school in Swieqi, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The elected five persons will be responsible for our locality. We will then have someone to look after our interests.

This is a golden opportunity to get people who experience the above-mentioned problems to be in a position to propose solutions.

It is most important that all residents of Madliena show their solidarity with the proposed committee members and go out to vote on March 27.

The people who wish to help and serve our locality need the support of residents.

We want things improved. It is up to all the residents to cast their votes, to help those who can make a difference get elected.
