The local ruling organisation of bodybuilding, now officially known as Malta Amateur Bodybuilders and Fitness Association (MABFA), recently held an annual general meeting during which various topics were discussed including the fight against doping.

The association said that any member wishing to participate in competitions during 2004 are to submit their applications by not later than January 15 and, most importantly, all athletes in competition are subject to drug tests throughout the year.

Competing athletes will be asked to sign a declaration whereby they accept to deposit all incurred expenses for drug tests. In the event of testing positive, the sum deposited will be lost.

There will be two competitions during 2004, one in preparation for the European Championship and the other in the build-up for the World Championship.
