A Tarxien man was yesterday given a two-year jail term suspended for four years for seriously injuring a man and slightly injuring another.
Taher Trabelsi pleaded guilty to seriously injuring Hassain Ismael Dgheem and slightly injuring Mausa Alhlal in Tarxien on September 5, 1999.
He also admitted to possessing a weapon at the time of the commission of the crime and without a licence and breaching the peace.
Magistrate Abigail Lofaro heard how Trabelsi had attacked one man because his daughter indicated him as being the man who was having an affair with his wife.
During the assault the other man intervened and when Trabelsi realised that his daughter had indicated the wrong man he was very sorry for his actions.
On handing down judgment Magistrate Lofaro noted that Trabelsi had cooperated with police and filed a guilty plea.
Police Inspector Abraham Zammit prosecuted.
